How to file a complaint
You can use the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution and submit your complaint digitally on the website. The following contact with you and the opposing party will then take place electronically via links provided by the Secretariat, and you will be able to view the case documents in "Kig-i-egen-sag" (KIG).
The opposing party cannot see your complaint immediately when you file it, but following submissions in the case can be viewed simultaneously. If you are a lawyer, you must therefore remember to send a copy of the complaint to the opposing party, as it may be contrary to good legal practice not to do so.
If you have any questions about how to file a complaint etc., you can contact the Secretariat for guidance by phone or read more on the website.

What are the benefits of using the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution?
We encourage you to use the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution as it offers a number of benefits:
- The complaint fee can be paid with credit card simultaneously with the filing of the complaint, to which a refund will also automatically be made if you are entitled to a refund.
- Correspondence between the Secretariat and the parties in the case takes place electronically in a secure manner via the links provided.
- You can view the case documents, including each other's submissions, as they are submitted (NB, however, there is no simultaneity regarding the complaint itself, so as a lawyer you must be aware of the need to send a copy to the other party).
You can access the case documents via the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution up to 1 year after the case has been finalized.
-
What should I include when filing my complaint?
You must make sure to elucidate the case and submit everything that you consider relevant to the assessment of the complaint, preferably sorted and all at once, not continuously. The entire underlying case will typically not be relevant to the assessment of your complaint, so select what is central to your complaint. You may only send the personal data that is necessary for the processing of the case. You must remove any social security numbers and other similar personal information before submitting the material.
Your counterparty will have access to the documents you submit. Similarly, you will have access to the documents that your counterparty submits. Both parties are thus aware of the information which is in the case at the time of the Board's decision.

Can I complain against multiple lawyers?
You can only complain about one lawyer at a time (per case via the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution). If you want to file a complaint against multiple lawyers, you must file a complaint against each lawyer and a fee must be paid per complaint.
See more about fees under " Does it cost anything to file a complaint or apply for a reopening of the case?”
-
Can I complain about the lawyer’s fee and the conduct of the lawyer at the same time?
You can complain about both the lawyer’s fee and the conduct of the lawyer against the same lawyer in the same complaint, and you will only have to pay one fee.

Can I submit my complaint by other means than the digital portal?
If you do not wish to use the Disciplinary Board’s digital solution, you can instead send your complaint by e-mail to postkasse@advokatnaevnet.dk or by post. You must also pay a fee of DKK 500 via bank transfer:
Payment of the fee can be made by bank transfer to the Danish Bar and Law Society's bank account reg. no. 3001, account no. 12984901 (IBAN: DK75 3000 0012 9849 01, Swift DABADKKK), with your name in the text field. The name must be identical to the name on the complaint.
The processing of a complaint will not begin until the fee has been paid. The Secretariat of the Disciplinary Board may set a deadline for payment of the fee and may reject the complaint if the fee has not been paid by the deadline.
